The Kalstein surname has its origins in Poland since the 18th century. Due to wartime reasons, some members emigrated to Venezuela. Germania Kalstein bore María De los Santos, Isidora, and Rosa Cristina.
By the early 19th century, from the marriage of María De los Santos Kalstein, 7 siblings were born, but only three sisters survived: Catalina Kalstein, Rosa Julia Kalstein, and Luz Eugenia Kalstein (the girl in the center hiding a peach during the photo session). Only the latter had a single daughter, Irene María Kalstein, who carried on the family and the surname's legacy.
